Biography

Mary Ann McGraw was born in 1828 in Northumberland, New Brunswick, Canada. She married David Bruce on December 10, 1849, in her hometown. They had ten children in 29 years. She died in 1887 in York, New Brunswick, Canada, at the age of 59, and was buried there.[1][2]

Notes

Her son, named David Bruce, was born 26 Mar 1862 in Bloomfield. York Co, New Brunswick, Canada. Her son, David Bruce, grew up and married to Orly McArthur. On the marriage record, it names the parents of David Bruce as "David and Mary A. Bruce"

Most people do not have children before the age of 15. 1862-15=1847. David and Mary A. Bruce would have had to have been born before 1847.

Since his last known whereabouts (known to me at this time) is the place where David (the son) was born, I'll put that as the location of his father, David and his mother, Mary A. (Unknown) Bruce.

Mary Ann McGraw/McCrae has been mistakenly linked to parents Duncan McGraw and Polly Blake of Tabusintac in some research. According to a probate record located by JSB, Mary is descended from a different McGraw family headed by Daniel McGraw and Mary Davis. See Below:

Last Will and Testament of Daniel McGraw. In his Last Will and Testament, signed January 20 1851 (the year in which he would later die), Daniel McGraw detailed exactly which children would get land or money. To sons William McGraw, Roderick McGraw, Daniel McGraw, and daughter Prudence McGraw he left the sum of five shillings each (about $35 in 2022 US money). To son John McGraw, daughter Mary Ann Bruce (wife of David Bruce), and daughter Dorothy Price (wife of Erasmus Gower), he deeded portions of his farm. To daughters Elizabeth McGraw and Jane McGraw, he gave lots with standing homes and the right-of-way to reach the houses. For daughters both single and married, he restricted their right to dispose of the property.
