Biography

Hannah McCullough was born in 1828 in Ireland. She came to America, and married Thomas P. Breakiron. They had several children, and lived in Pennsylvania. ^[1]

In 1860, the Breakiron family lived in Meadville, Crawford, Pennsylvania. The household included Thomas P. Breakiron, 32, born in Virginia, a Clerk, with $300 in real estate and $100 in personal assets; his wife, Hannah, 29, b. Ireland; their five children, all in school except the youngest one, and all b. PA, except for the eldest: Margaret, 14, b. VA; Mary, 10; Harriet, 8; Edward, 5; and Charles, 3. Also living with them was Margaret Sexton, 57, b. Ireland; and Alex McCullough, 20, b. Ireland [most likely a brother or cousin of Hannah [McCullough)] ^[2]

In 1870, the Breakiron family lived in Mead Township, Crawford county, Pennsylvania. The household included Thomas Breakiron, 45, born in Virginia, works at tailoring, with $1500 in real estate and $300 in personal assets; his wife, Hannah, 41, born in Ireland, who could not write; their six children, all born in Pennsylvania: Harriet, 18, a seamstress; Edward, 15; Charles, 12; Harry, 8; Eva, 5; and Frank, 6 months, born in January 1870; and Margaret Sexton, 67, born in Ireland, a housekeeper. ^[3]

Thomas Breakiron and Hannah McCullough are mentioned in the death record of their daughter, Harriet (Breakiron) Branthoover, who was born about 1854, married George W. Branthoover, and died, aged 92, on 27 March 1946 in Hoquiam, Grays Harbor, Washington, and was buried on 29 March. ^[4]
