In his Eastern Cherokee Application, his son Lewis McDaniel says that in 1851 Arch was living in the Illinois District. He is most likely '108 Illinois' on the Drennen roll, but they link his application to his mother and don't confirm this, Skin Bayou 233. Skin Bayou 233 contains: James Chicken Sr, Ailsey Chicken 3675, James Chicken Jr, Oo-nee-che-char-kee-skee, and Too-taw-uh-nah.
If he was born closer to 1806, it's possible that he's the Arch McDaniel mentioned on Rebecca Eldridge's profile, and a distant relative of the Matoys. The book Upon our Ruins by John Strange[1] lists Arch's parents as William McDaniel and (white) Rachel Murphy, but does not provide a clear source of this information and it was not found when reviewing other sources he used. This book has also been found to be full of inaccuracies.
