Hi Terra!

Hope you'll join Team Virginia for the Source-a-Thon Oct. 1-3. You haven't heard of it? Go get your race bib here, details about the Source-a-Thon are here, and you can join Team Virginia by posting an Answer (not a comment or reply) to this G2G post - see also the Team Virginia page for helpful hints and links to Virginia sources.

Even if you find a solid source for just one Unsourced profile Oct. 1-3, you'll be helping! There are door prizes too!

Come join the fun :D

Cheers, Liz

How's everything going?

Now that you have had a little time to try WikiTree, there are a few more features you may find useful.

Ideas on what to include in a profile can be found in Styles and Standards, including some tips on writing biographies.

If you need to describe an event, an heirloom or a location relevant to your research, you may like to learn about Free Space Profiles.

Lastly, sometimes you'll run into unresponsive profile managers. We have a process for resolving those unfortunate situations.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask via my profile page.

Vicky Majewski ~ WikiTree Mentor

(part 2) until you get a chance to explore WikiTree some & add/develop more profiles for your family tree?

I've found that WikiTree is one of those things where the more your give, the more you get - but it can be terribly time consuming! (Especially if you're addicted, like I am.) For example - I don't get much activity with the Dinwiddie County space page. I imagine the Campbell County one gets much more. (And everything's bigger in Texas LOL - check out the Lee County, Texas project.)

Find out more about WikiTree's One Place Studies here.

Let me know if you want me to start a Lee County page for you & add it to the table.

Cheers, Liz

Hi again! I couldn't find that Lee County, Virginia had anything more than its category page (the categorization folks set up all the pages for Virginia counties a while back - way before the Virginia Project was created).

Currently only a few Virginia Counties have "Space" pages. See for example Campbell County and Dinwiddie County.

See the table on this page for more.

Would you like me to start a Space page for Lee County for you to take on, would you like to start one yourself, or would you like to wait a bit, ...

continued.

Thanks for joining the Virginia Project! When you get a chance, please add something about yourself in the Members section of the project page & take a look at our goals and "things to do".

Cheers, Liz

Hi! I see you have an interest in Virginia (I saw your Virginia tag). Let me know if you'd like to join the Virginia project - it's a subproject under the United States History project & covers Virginia from June 25, 1788 (the date Virginia ratified the Constitution).

You might also be interested in this Virginia project, under the US Southern Colonies project, which covers "pre-USA" Virginia.

There's also a West Virginia project. And a Tennessee project. And a Kentucky project!

Hi Terra

You are now a confirmed member of Wikitree. Thank you for volunteering.

Our G2G Forum is the hub of our communication. Pop in when you have time and introduce yourself or ask a question, we all love to welcome a new member :)

If there is something you are having trouble understanding or you need additional help learning how to use WikiTree, you can always contact a mentor.

Both G2G and mentors are accessible through the Help drop down menu top right of your page. There are also useful tabs at the top of your profile.

Just for fun, come and join in on our Question of the Week: Any tidbits of information you've discovered to pass down to the next generation? Happy researching!

Hi Terra

A warm welcome to the Wikitree Family. By now you will have received an email with useful links to get you started. Take your time and browse the site to see what Wikitree has to offer.

Wikitree is different, because we have one goal: To have one big Global tree. This means we have one profile per person, and we collaborate as one big team.

When you confirm your email address, you will have the opportunity to volunteer by adding tags to your profile. These should contain what interests you in your genealogy: surnames, locations, etc.

A Greeter will then confirm your membership, and you will be able to start adding your information.

We are all volunteers here and happy to help if you need it.

I look forward to seeing you in the tree :)

Happy researching

Wendy?
