Grant was born in 1909. He was the son of John McDonagh and Anita Amora. He passed away in 1979.
Grant was a brother of the famous McDonagh sisters, pioneer film-makers in Australia. Both brothers had some involvement in the film making e.g. from TROVE: "By their final film, the McDonagh Sisters were aided by their two brothers — John, who helped organize finance, and Grant, who helped wherever he could. But it was as an all-woman team that the sisters generally worked and were advertised. Two other sisters in the family — Anita and Paula — had almost no contact with production. When Phyllis, Grant and John did frequent back-up work away from the set,[1]
TROVE also has an extensive letter from Grant to Phyllis on her return to Australia that was published in Truth (Sydney, NSW) on Sun 19 Sep 1954, Page 11. [2].
