Biography

It is extremely unlikely that he is the son of Donald McDonald and Elspeth Frazer as so many unsourced family trees suggest, especially considering the fact that Donald does not seem to be a family name. He is probably the son of Archibald McDonald of Bladen County.

Archibald B. McDonald was born about 1795 in North Carolina, probably in Bladen County.

He migrated to Pulaski, Georgia[1] before eventually settling in Clarke, Alabama.[2][3]

Marriage

He married a woman named Hariett in Pulaski, Georgia.

Children:

  1. Elizabeth, b. 1823, married Garrett Dykes
  2. Margaret, b. 1826, married James Bryant.
  3. Archibald, b. 1831, married Catherine Glenn
  4. Lucia, b. 1834, married James Dinkins
  5. Amanda, b. 1834, married James Alston
  6. Joshua, b. 1836, married Mary Elizabeth Martin
  7. John C., b. 1838
  8. James G., b. 1841
  9. Martha Jane, b. 1848, married Henry Briers, then Rev. John Southwell

Death

He died before 14 October 1863 in Alabama when his estate was settled.

"Estate of Archibald B. McDonald, deceased, October 14, 1863.

Crawford-12102 and McDonald-11824 do not represent the same person because: Archibald is the husband, Harriet is the wife.
