Alexander was born about 1860.

• As per Groni record, marriage of Alexander McDonald, bachelor, age 22, a stone cutter and Eliza Jane McClurg, spinster, age 21at St Annes Church of Ireland on 9th January 1883. Alexander was resident at 16 Foreman Street, Belfast and Eliza Jane was resident at 12 Foreman Street, Belfast. Fathers of the bride and groom were James McClurg, a labourer ad Alexander McDonald, a stone cutter. Witnesses were James McClurg and Sarah Jane Kelso.

Alexander McDonald died sometime around 1891/1892. I have been unable to trace a record of his death in Groni's records. In 1892 on the death record for his son Alexander, Alexander senior is stated as deceased. Alexander junior was 1 years old at death. It may be Alexander died in another country, possibly the United States. His widow emigrated to the USA and remarried and there appears to be quite a few movements of the McClurg family between Northern Ireland and the United States.
