Research Notes

The John H. McDonald who married Maggie Robinson in Massachusetts was John Hector McDonald the son of John and Grace McDonald, according to the information he gave on his marriage record. On this record he said born Nova Scotia. They had two daughters in the United States, Grace M. on 4 July 1883 in Massachusetts and Collina Marie on 4 August 1886. [8]

John and Maggie were back living in Nova Scotia by 1891. [9] Their two oldest daughters were born in the United States, Grace M. and Colina.

In 1901, the two oldest daughters were Margaret, born 4 July 1883 and Mary, born 4 August 1886, in Nova Scotia. They had two children born in Nova Scotia, John and Sarah. [10]

They were in Inverness in 1921. [11]

I don't think John Hector is Archibald's son John.

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with John by comparing test results with other carriers of his ancestors' Y-chromosome or mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with John:
