Biography

Angus McDonald is a member of Clan MacDonald of Clanranald.

Angus was born in 1821. He worked with his family at Duntroon and then moved with them to Square Range until he had saved enough money to marry Isabella and purchase the Nimmitabel Inn. He was granted a publican's licence on 20th April 1858. The Nimmitabel Inn became the social centre for the McDonald family members. Many ceilidhs, marriages and other functions were held there and also Holy Mass was celebrated there until St. Andrew's Catholic Church was built.


Died 15 Nov 1863. Nimmitabel, New South Wales. [1] Cause: disease of the stomach.

Buried 17 Nov 1863. Pioneer Cemetery, Nimmitabel, New South Wales.

Occupation: Settler, innkeeper- Nimmitabel Inn.

Immigration: on the ship "British King". 28 Feb 1839. Sydney, New South Wales.
