Biography

Grenfell Record and Lachlan District Advertiser, Monday 24 June 1929:
Alec McDonald
Passed away on Saturday a well known identity in the person of Mr Alec McDonald, a man of rare and sterling qualities, respected by all. It is many years since he first came to this district, his earliest association in town being with W T Burrett at the old Freemason's Arms Hotel in George street, near the vacant allotment alongside Mr Jack Murray's. From there he gradually drifted on the land, and had an engagement of sixteen years with the N Z Loan on their Pinnacle run. He was for many years with Mr D S Shannon, and lately with Mr J B Scott. Deceased was 76 at the time of his death. Two brothers and two sisters survive. The funeral was on Sunday to the Presbyterian cemetery, Rev J Richardson officiating. A Masonic service was also read by W M Bro Griffiths, many of the brethren attending. [1]
