Moses and family reside in Grainger County at their first census as a family[2]. Moses and family move from Grainger County to McMinn County between 1830 and 1840[3]. Moses' occupation was as a wagon maker[4]. Moses' likely death date was between that 1850 census and the 1860 census wherein his wife is living with one of his sons.[5]
There is no documentation for the implicit asssumption here that this Moses is the son of any McElhaney living in Grainger County, Tennessee, or anyone else to my knowledge. This is purely a circumstantial arrangement. Anyone with any traditional or DNA evidence (or even a family anecdote) is welcome to edit this as needed, or to correspond with myself to do so. I will be very pleased to hear from you.
