Biography

Ireland Native
Edward McEntee was born in Ireland.

Edward was born on 14 Jan 1795 in Monaghan, Ireland.[1] He was the son of Charles McEntee and Mary _____.[citation needed] In 1830, he was living in New Paltz, New York with someone who was in their 60s, possibly his mother.[2] He married Ann E. Freer in 1833 in New Paltz, New York. [3]He was a farmer and a weaver. By 1840, Edward and his wife had at least one child, Matthew McEntee (1838-) and were living with other people in their household. [4]In 1850, Edward was living in New Paltz, New York with his 5 children and his mother who was 81 years old. [5] In 1955 he was still living in Gardiner, New York with his wife, his children and mother. All his children were born in Ulster County, New York.[6] In 1860, his mother was still alive, living with him[7] and in 1870, he was living in Gardiner, New York. He was a farmer. His adult sons were likely working as farmers alongside their father. [8] According to FindAGrave, He died on 11 Feb 1875 in Gardiner, Ulster, New York., but his will is dated Feb 13. 1875. He is buried in New Paltz Rural Cemetery. [1] His will was dated Feb 13, 1875. [9] Ancestry trees have date of death as Feb 14, gravestone has his age as 80 years and 31 days which would correspond with Feb 14. [1] Edward's will was proved on March 29, so he died sometime before that date.[10]
