About Agnes (Aggie) McLean

Agnes went to take care of her sisters (Sarah McLean nee McEwen) children after Sarah gave birth to my grandfather (Charles Neil Mclean) who was born in the eighth month of pregnancy weighing just 2 pounds. Sarah was ill from his birth and was unable to take care of her children. She died two years eight months later (apparently from a miscarriage).

Agnes went on to marry her sisters husband and had a further 4 children. Agnes (my grandfather Charles' Aunt) was the only mother he remembered. Agnes loved my grandfather and always used to say "Charlie is my darling".
