Frederik Charles McFarlane was born in St. Croix, Danish West Indies on December 9, 1889, to Charles McFarlane and Adelaide Boldt.

Frederik married Cleomine Malvina Clendinen.

The couple had five children.

He passed away in Dayton City, Ohio on December 18, 1948, and was buried in Frederiksted, St. Croix, US Virgin Islands.
