Mary was born in 1855, daughter of Helen and David McFarlane. She arrived on the barque "Victory" (570 tons), which departed Gravesend on 20 January 1859 and arrived into Lyttelton on 14 May 1859. On the passenger list, Mary's father, David was recorded as being aged 33, a "farm servant" and her mother, aged 27. Mary was aged 3 and her older brother, William was aged 5. Another sibling was born on the journey (in the Bay of Biscay) - a sister.
She married Andrew Reckie Kininmonth in 1881 and the couple lived in Christchurch, New Zealand.
She passed away in on 25 July 1921, aged 65 and is buried at the Sydenham Cemetery, Christchurch, New Zealand.[1]
