Robert McFarlane was born in Scotland.

Robert George McFarlane was born on 23 November 1872 and was the youngest son of Daniel McFarlane and Elizabeth McEwan.

Robert's father died when he was young and it looks like Robert was adopted out as he is living with the Cook family at Coalgate, Alloa, on the 1881 census.[1]
