Lonnie McGallion, 70, of Vinton, Louisiana, passed away June 11, 2017 at his residence.
Lonnie was born February 8, 1947 in Fred, Texas to Sam Cheatham and Vallie Lee Hutto McGallion. He was a lifelong resident of Fred before moving to Vinton in February.
Lonnie was a highly decorated US Army veteran of the Vietnam war. He was awarded a Purple Heart, Bronze Star Medal, National Defense Service Medal, and numerous other military honors. Mr. McGallion worked many years as a welder and boilermaker in construction. He was a loving father, brother, grandfather, and friend.
Lonnie was preceded in death by his parents, his twin brother Onnie McGallion, brother Herman McGallion, and sisters Neri Lee Miller and Marvi Lee Crosby.
