Biography

The McGee family heritage emanated in Ireland, Scotland and England. Our McGee forbears ( five orphaned children of John McGee & Dorinda nee Murray) left Ireland in 1855. My M descendants are John, Francis, John, John then myself. Francis married the daughter of an English convict who also married a Glasgow born convict. My F descendants ( Cooke, Carmichael, Martin, Rice) need more research.

Irish John McGee (& his wife Dorinda) were Catholics who perished in the Famine - it is not known how or where they died or where they are interned. Our best guess they joined others in a common grave possibly in Ardess where all Irish connecting relative names are to be found. Francis obtained a farming grant and his son John (m. Irish Morrison, Walsh descendants) my father John, and my brother, also John, stayed on this dairy farm. I was employed mostly in the Australian airline 'Ansett' and subsequently as GM for a US based company then later I became a licenced Real Estate Agent. I am now retired.
