Henry McGee was born about 1825. He was the son of Walter McGee and Sarah Lowe. Henry volunteered at the outbreak of the civil war although he was in his early 30's at the time . He was one of the original members of the the first company to leave Carroll County. Henry had been discharged from the Civil War in May 1862 because of his age. Two years later, he was hauling some corn home and his horses took fright, ran off, and threw him out of the wagon against a sappling, killing him instantly on January, 15, 1864 in Carroll County, Virginia. He was 39 years of age at the time of his death.
