Research Notes

Birth certificate says "Mary Annetta McGee", born Dec 13, 1883 in Brockway Twp. The death certificate says born Dec 12, 1883 in Rice, MN. Betty Farr Casey said "Gran always said she was born at Rice, Mn on Dec 12th" (which matches the death certificate). Why Rice? It was a nearby town. Maybe it is where a mid-wife was located. Maybe in those days the record of birth was not exacting, and it was recorded where the family resided. She always went by "Anna Mae". Death certificate shows her name as "Anna Marie" and her gravestone says "Anna Mae."
