Dabney is seen in the records as Dabney McGehee and as Dabney Oswell. The problem is that Dabney had a brother, Oswald McGehee, born in 1791. His will lists him as Oswald McGehee. The only place that him listed as Dabney Oswell McGehee was in the marriages book for 96th district, SC.

The will of Dabney McGehee was presented to court by his son Zachary M. McGehee. It was listed as the will of Dabney M. McGehee.
