Biography

John is identified as a coal pithead man. The family emigrated from Ireland, probably what would later be known as Northern Ireland, between 1848-1850 according to the 1851 census. In 1851 the family reside at 14 West Row, Summerlee, Old Monkland.

In 1861 they lived at the Langloan Iron Works Row No 28, Old Monkland.
