Evie and her husband Al moved their family to Valdosta, GA in 1943. Evie worked in the Cigar Factory, Strickland Cotton Mills, and in the 60s she and her daughter Mable ran a thrift shop.
Her daughter, Hazel. remembers her mother, Evie, laughing about having to sleep in the same room as Al's youngest brother Herbert on their wedding night.

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Evie by comparing test results with other carriers of her mitochondrial DNA.
However, there are no known mtDNA test-takers in her direct maternal line.

McGill-2533 and McGill-2244 appear to represent the same person because: I had accidentally created Eva before noticing that Evie already existed. From the information I have, Evie was a nickname for Eva, or perhaps vice versa.
Hello Marie, thank you for reaching out. These are certainly the same. My records of Evie's father, mother and siblings match your research. There are some discrepancies however. Her date of death is certainly 1992. I have a picture of her headstone. I will upload it shortly. Also, according to my mother she never went by Eva. Even her headstone says Evie. My mother said her name was pronounced as Ev (as in every) - e. That could be the source of some confusion.
I will go ahead and merge then we can make corrections as necessary.
