Although her Christian name was Elizabeth, she was known as Nancy in almost every document we can find except the 1851 census return. She lived on Amherst Island with Adeline Jane McGinnis (daughter of her brother, William McGinnis and Maria Berdan), who in 1870 married John Richards (#461). Nancy’s will, after various bequests, left the greater part of her estate to “Mrs. John Richey”. (The Richards family name was often misspelled as “Richey.”) The death registrations at Ontario Archives (RG80-MS935-19-7350), say that Nancy died of dropsy at age 64.
