Retrieved February 12, 2018, from http://nla.gov.au/nla.news-article102436132 One of the best-known residents of The Walwa district, Mrs. Rose John,has died at her residence, the Walwa Hotel. Her husband was Constable John, who predeceased her about 40 years ago. Her parents were the late Mr. and Mrs. M'Glynn, of Tumbarumba, and she was the last of a family of nine. Her two sons, Walter (Bob) and George, with whom she resided, survive her. She was an ardent member of the Roman Catholic Church and a member of the Catholic Women's Social Guild. She was born at Jingelliec76 years ago, and had resided in the Tumbarumba, Adelong and Tumut districts, where she conducted businesses, and for 20 years she had assisted her sons at the Hotel Walwa.

The Telegraph (Brisbane, Qld. : 1872 - 1947), p. 7 (LATE CITY). http://nla.gov.au/nla.news-article180637975 Days of Moonlite Gang The death of Mrs. Rosanna John in the Walwa district recalls an exciting incident in the bushranging days, in which her husband played an important part (says the Melbourne "Star").Mrs. John's husband, Constable George John, his brother-in-law, Sergeant Thomas Casson, and six other police officers, had surrounded Captain Moonlite and his gang in a shed.The police eventually captured the gang, but not before Constable Bowen was mortally wounded. This incident occurred at Wantabadgery 56 years ago.
