Lovina McGrath was born in 1806, the daughter of Edward and Hannah McGrath. ^[1]

When she was 18 years old, she married Stephen Hammond, in Windsor, Windsor County, Vermont, USA. ^[2]

From Hammond Genealogy Book: "His widow, living at Chicago, at the age of 86, with her son Lewis M Hammond, enjoys good health, reads the finest print without the aid of spectacles, and devotes her days doing all in her power to alleviate the unfortunate---a grand, noble woman, full of many years and good works."^[2]
