James McGregor was born on 26 December 1821 at Uvie and baptised on 1 January 1822. At home 1851, he was an ag lab in 1861 living at Achmore with his father. He survived 1862. Not found 1871. He came to New Zealand and farmed ‘Cluny’. He probably married Helen Leslie 1833 -1874, about 1865 and died in 1904 at Turakina, New Zealand. "Sacred to the memory of James McGregor of “Cluny” who died 20th October 1904 aged 83 years, also of Helen McGregor his wife who died 14th March 1874 aged 40 years and Catherine Leslie who died 9th October 1899 aged 82, also his niece Annie MacPherson who died 8th September 1940 aged 87 years, also of his son James McGregor who died 9th June 1956 aged 88, Edith Mary McGregor died 2nd May 1963 aged 84 years."
