Margery was the daughter of Duncan MaGregor and Annie Norah Smith.
Margery (also recorded as Margory) married William John Stobie in Hawera at 'The Manse'.
They had 5 children in their marriage, Cecil William, Errol Ray, Ivan McDonald, Gerald Leslie and Geoffrey John Duncan.
Margery and William moved to Nelson after 1906 and William continued in his trade as a Painter.
As the First World War progressed, 3 of Margery's sons enlisted and embarked overseas. Cecil enlisted in 1915 and wouldn't return home till 1919. Son Gerald enlisted in 1916 and was killed in action in 1918 and youngest son Geoffrey would add his name to serve his country in 1917. Margery must have given a sigh of relief that the youngest boys, Errol and Ivan weren't of age to sign up.
Margery Stobie died age 72 and is buried at Richmond cemetery, Nelson. BLK B ROW 2 PLOT 11.
