Biography

Catherine was born about 1780 in Comrie, Perthshire. She was baptised 8 Jan 1780 at Comrie as follows:

• 8 Jan 1780 - Duncan McGrigor in W Glenlerken and Jannet McNab his spouse had their daughter baptised named Catharine

5 Sep 1802 - James King marriage to Catherine McGregor proclaimed three times at Muthill.

  • John their son born 18th October 1802 and baptised the 20th same month,
  • Duncan their son, born 10th March and baptised on the Twentieth of said month 1804

Catherine passed away 20 Jun 1826 in Langside and was buried at Tullichettle Old Parish Church Cemetery. Transcription of a memorial stone at Tullichettle reads:

• Erected by James King, Farmer Langside in memory of Catherine McGregor his spouse who died June 20, 1826 aged 46 years Also in memory of the above James King who died Nov 14, 1864 aged 91. Side 2 of the memorial reads:
• Likewise, in memory of his son Peter who died in April 1837 aged 16 years and in memory of his brother Alexander who died Sept 1849 aged 21 years.
