In 1894 she married 1ly John Burns, and they had a son and a daughter.
In 1898 she married 2ly (Henry) John Gentles, and they had three daughters and two sons.
She died in 1918.

MRS H J GENTLES. A former Thames resident died at her residence, Bradford Street, Parnell, namely the wife of Mr Henry (John) Gentles. She was the eldest daughter of Mrs F McInnes, of Alfriston, Papakura. Mrs Gentles is one who will be missed in the St Mary's parish, having been an ardent worker for the church. She also took a great interest in the scout movement, being one of a committee of ladies assisting Captain Rust. Mrs Gentles was also a member of the Mothers' Union for many years. Deceased leaves a family of four daughters and two sons. The eldest son was an Anzac, and laid down his life over three years ago.
