Elizabeth was born in 1933. She was the daughter of William McIntyre and Elsie Griffin. She passed away in 2013.
Elizabeth McIntyre Flanagan of Mount Jackson passed away peacefully at home July 31, 2013.
The daughter of the late Reverend Dr. and Mrs. W.W. McIntyre, she was born January 22, 1933 in Washington D.C. and lived all over the Old Dominion.
As a graduate of Randolph-Macon College she served as a teacher in Virginia and North Carolina public schools educating and enriching the lives of the youth for many years. She honored her nation's past and the past of her family as a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and the United Daughters of the Confederacy. With God's loving arm around her, she was a member of the United Methodist Church and lived her life through His word and teachings.
She was a beloved wife, sister, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
She is survived by her husband, John D. Flanagan Jr.; daughters, Elizabeth H. Clark of Arlington, Bonny H. Burner and husband James (Jim) of Mount Jackson, and Beverly H. Wilk of Mount Jackson; and son, John D Flanagan III (Jay) and wife Sandra of Chesapeake; sister, Margaret M. Buttrill, five grandchildren; ten step grandchildren, and numerous cherished great-grandchildren.
We remain behind as she has passed into the Kingdom of Heaven knowing she will continue to lovingly watch over and protect her family for generations to come. We ask you Father to take us by your loving hand and give us strength through this trying time and that our beloved Oma be held in your embrace, happy, and healthy for the rest of eternity. Amen.
The family will receive friends at the Valley Funeral Service on this evening 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
A service of remembrance and internment will be conducted at 1:00 PM Saturday at Morning Star Lutheran Church in Mount Jackson, Virginia by the Reverend Stephen Whitten.

Aunt Betty was married to the Rev. William S. Hopkins who died many years ago. Her second marriage was to John Flanagan. John worked for the Department of the Navy and they lived in the DC area for many years. They had one son, Jay. Betty had three daughters from her first marriage: Elizabeth, Bonnie, and Beverly. Betty died at home in Mount Jackson, VA.
