John (35) married Agnes Jean Fraser (23) (born in 1879 in Inverell, Colony of New South Wales; daughter of David Fraser and Agnes (McKenzie) Fraser) in 1903 in Inverell, New South Wales. Their daughter was Edna Jessie McIntyre (1909–1979).

John died in 1942 in Inverell, New South Wales, Australia, aged 74.
