Surnames: McINTYRE, YAW
Alanson McINTYRE was born 1819 in Brookfield, Madison Co, NY, the seventh of nine children born to Price Beardsley and Persis (Wheeler) McINTYRE. He married Olive Elizabeth YAW in 1842 in NY and soon after moved to Winnebago County, Wisconsin, settling in Winneconne.
In June, 1853, their only son, Frank W. McINTYRE was born. They had a daughter, Ida McINTYRE, that married Alexis L. Tyler in 1872 in Fond du Lac, WI. Ida and Alexis moved to Oregon Territory and in 1877, Ida died there.
Alanson and Olive owned a hotel in Winneconne, and did very well. Alanson was street commissioner in Winneconne as well, and was a respected citizen.
Shortly after Ida married, Olive Elizabeth passed away (she's buried in the Bell Cemetary east of Winneconne)and Alanson sold the hotel and bought a farm east of Winneconne. Sometime between Olive's death and 1877, when Alanson moved to Medford, he married Arminda (Lopes) Loveless. Arminda's first husband, Joseph R. Loveless, had died, leaving Arminda with a daughter, Hattie. Hattie accompanied Alanson and Arminda to Medford. In later years Hattie married Frank Perkins, the son of a Medford pioneer.
Alanson started a drayage, or hauling company, and was well liked by his peers. He was town chairman for a considerable time.
On April 4, 1895, a Thursday, two days after being elected an alderman of Medford, Alanson dropped dead on the street. The Star News gave the cause of death as apoplexy, or a stroke as we know it nowadays. Thus Medford lost a leading citizen.
Alanson and Arminda McINTYRE are buried together in the Medford Cemetary east of town.[:HID]
