Raymond Bruce McIntyre was born on 27 December 1909 at Auckland, the son of Edmund Kenneth Bruce McIntyre and Maud Harman. [1]
As a child he lived with his parents and maternal grandparents at 15 Hobson Park Rd, later renamed 15 Birdwood Crescent, Parnell.
Raymond first appeared in the 1935 electoral roll. He was then still living at 15 Birdwood Cres, and working as a compositor.
In the 1938 electoral roll Raymond was living at The Chateau [a hotel located in the Tongariro National Park] and working as a house porter.
In the 1946 and 1949 rolls Raymond was a soldier based at Central Military District, Buckle St, Wellington.
By 1954 he had moved to 54 Hill Street, Thorndon, Wellington and was working as a clerk in the public service. He was still there in 1957. [2]
Raymond inherited a property at 21 Birdwood Crescent, Parnell and its furnishings from his mother following her death in 1958. [3]
In the 1963 to 1972 rolls Raymond was living at 100 Main Road, Wainuiomata but still employed as a clerk.
In 1981 Raymond was still at the same address but then retired. [4]
Family recall Raymond was a tramper and while working at The Chateau climbed in the mountains.
Later he had a ‘Kiwi Hut’ in the Orongrongo Valley in the Tararua Ranges, Wellington.
He also used to ‘play trains’ at the Railway museum in Paekakariki. [5]
Raymond Bruce McIntyre died on 14 November 2001. [6]
