Catherine Amelia McKay was born in 1857 in Kaiapoi, Canterbury, New Zealand. Her parents were Hector and Margaret McKay (nee Hayhurst) [1].
Catherine married Alexander Dunn in 1873 in the residence of John Hayhurst, Greenhays Estate, Temuka, New Zealand [2]. The marriage witnesses were John Hayhurst and Samuel Burrows, Hotel Keeper at Temuka. Alexander is shown as a farmer, batchelor and full age (32) on their marriage licence whereas his wife was a minor (15). According to Alexander's death certificate they have 8 children: 4 sons and 4 daughters. They were aged 14 and 25 yrs for the sons and 10,14, 17, 23 years for the daughters.
Catherine Amelia Dunn's will is in probate 1921 Napier [3].
Catherine passes away in 1939 aged 82 years, and is buried in Havelock North Cemetery, Hastings, New Zealand with her husband Alexander and sons Robert and Archibald [4].
