On 21st November 1860, Sarah died of "decline," aged eighteen years. The Belfast News-Letter noticed the death and funeral service:
November 21, of decline, Sarah, youngest and last surviving daughter of the late Marshal [sic] M'Kay, Esq., Kilrea, aged 18 years. Her remains will be removed for interment on Friday (to-morrow) at 2 p.m. [3]
Her body was buried in St. Patrick's churchyard, Kilrea.[1][4]
