Biography

James Henry McKeich was born on 6th May 1876 at Dunedin, New Zealand. His parents were Robert McKeich and Emily Harriet Bicknell .[1] Birth date found by reducing date range searches on the index.

James Henry McKeich was named as a co-respondent in the divorce of Albert Ernest Hart and Fanny Hart as reported in "The Horsham Times", Victoria, 11 Feb 1898.

  • A Wimmera Divorce Suit. Melbourne, Thursday night.

"Albert Ernest Hart, of Lorquon, today petitioned for a divorce from his wife, Fanny Hart, on the grounds of her having committed adultery with James McKeitch, laborer, of St. Arnaud. The petitioner left for Broken Hill two years ago, leaving with his wife £20 and a stock of provisions. He also contributed weekly towards her maintenance. When he returned to Nhill a year later, he, as he alleges, found the woman pregnant by the respondent. The hearing of the suit was adjourned to allow of the production of technical evidence of the service of formal notices." [2] and later on 4th March 1898.

"The additional evidence required by Mr. Justice Beckett in the divorce suit of Hart v Hart, when the case was before him on the 10th ult., was called by Mr. Wauliss on behalf of the petitioner in the Divorce Court on Friday, and his honor granted a decree nisi, with costs against the co-respondent. The petition was brought by Albert Ernest Hart, blacksmith, residing at Lorquon, for a divorce from his wife, Fanny Hart, on the ground that she had been guilty of repeated acts of adultery with James McKeitch, laborer, now residing at St. Arnaud." [3]

James Henry McKeich served in the NZ Army during World War I, Reg No. 27321. He was a sergeant in J company, next of kin Mrs. Helen McKeich.[4]

James Henry McKeich married Fanny Helen Hart on 24th September 1916 in New Zealand.[5]

Prior to their marriage, James Henry and Helen McKeich had seven children.
