Biography

Jessie was born near Lochbroom, Scotland about 1849, the first child of Colin McKenzie and Isabella Urquhart . She arrived at Melbourne in the colony of Victoria, Australia in 1852 at the age of 3 with her parents and brother John aged 1.

Soon after arriving in Melbourne they moved north of Melbourne to the town of Kilmore and later to Seymour..

Jessie never married and after her parents died she ran the family home in Tallarook Street, Seymour as a boarding house.

She passed away at a private hospital in Seymour, Victoria in 1922.
