Biography

Anna Marie McKeown was born on 14 April 1895 (or possibly 1896[1]), in Philadelphia, Pennsyvania. to Edward McKeown and Sarah McCartney. [2]

She finished 8 years of school. [3]

On 9 July 1913, she married Atlee B. Whiteside. They were married by Charles Emeley [?]. He was a plumber, living at 3062 Ruth Street, Philadelphia. Anna was a mill hand, living at 2442 Jasper Street, Philadelphia. [2] They had at least four children:

Dorothy A Whiteside (ca 1914-1986 (?))
Marie Whiteside (1916-1920)
John Whiteside (1918-1974)
Eleanor Whiteside (1920-1989)

In 1920, they were living with Anna's mother and others, at 2442 Jasper Street. Atlee was a printer, at a printing house. [4]

In 1930, they were living at 1809 Hagert Street, Philadelphia, which they were renting for $35 per month. They had a radio. He was a printer, and was at work on the last working day. Their children Dorothy, John, and Elenore were attending school. [5]

In 1935 and 1940, they were living at 1804 Hagert Street, which they were renting (for $25 a month in 1940). He was a printer at a print shop. He worked 60 hours the week of 24 March, and had earned $2,280 in 52 weeks of work in 1939. Their son John was a shoe salesman at a shoe store, but had been unemployed for 54 weeks, and had earned $120 in 10 weeks of work in 1939. Their daughter Eleanor was a trimmer at a textile mill. She had worked 44 hours the week of 24 March, and earned $520 in 40 weeks of work in 1939. [3]

Anna died on 26 October 1967, in Episcopal Hospital, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She was living at 1896 Hagert Street. She died of cerebral thrombosis. She also had diabetes mellitus and congestive heart failure. On 30 October 1967, she was buried in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Chelton Township, Montgomery County, Pennsylvania. [1] [6]
