Gloucestershire Echo, Tuesday, 19 September, 1905 page 3. Out Of Work Tragedies. A verdict was returned in an inquiry at Newington on the body of William Benjamin Thomas McEwen aged 39, a house decorator, who poisoned himself. The widow stated that he was much troubled about being out of work. Before his death, he asked her forgiveness for having committed a mad act.
