Nancy was born in 1798, to Samuel "long sam" Mckeown and Mary "seed" McKeown, in what is now known as Blackstock, Chester, SC. The 'long sam" nick name was to differenciate him for all the other Samuel McKeowns, and Mary Seed McKeown was a distant cousin
It is estimated that she married William H. Mead about 1820 in either Chester or Charleston, SC., as her first child Jesse Carson was born in 1821.
She was listed on the 1850 census of Chester Co., South Carolina, on 5 Sep 1850, living with her son Jesse C. Mead and his family, at age 53[1]
Nancy is listed in the Probate records of her Father Samuel "Long Sam" Mckeown, as having received a distribution of $2.00, 30 Jan 1854[2]
