Research Notes
There are burials at Spion Kop Cemetery in Hartlepool for John McKinley of Croft Terrace aged 4m in 1862 and for Jessie aged 2 in 1865 child of John and Mary McKinley of Wood Street. and for George in 1873 of Raby Street child of J and M McKinley. Mother's maiden name at birth registration was Dyer for John and Jessie but Allan for George.
Sis ter Margaret's birth registration has mother's maiden name of Dyer but David's has MMN of Allen. So sometime between 1868 and 1870, John's wife Margaret disappeared and was replaced by Mary (nee Allen) or so you'd think but the 1871 census records Margaret as John's wife so it's a puzzle.
No death or burial for Margaret has been found nor a marriage for John and Mary.
