Mary Elizabeth McKinney was the eldest known child of William and Rebecca McKinney. She married William Curry, also of South Carolina, but they may have married in Arkansas.
Mary lived briefly in Chambers County, AL, with her parents, where they were listed in the 1850 Census. Her presumed eldest son, John Gaston, was also born in Alabama, so she may have lived there as an adult, or possibly traveled through there at the time her son was born, on her way to Arkansas
The 1870 US Census, Desha Co. AR, reported that Mary and William had presumed sons - John M., age 9; Robert H., age 7; and Walker W., age 2. Robert and Walker later show up in 1880 living in the home of Mary's brother-in-law and sister, William G. and Nancy I. Henley. Another nephew is also listed in that census, John Gaston, who was believed to be the son of Mary and Nancy's sister, Susannah K.
