Biography

Barbara was born to James McLaren and Jean (Ogilvy) McLaren at Greystone, Forfarshire, Scotland on 10 August 1814. She was baptized at Monikie on 19 August 1814. ^[1]

Barbara and James Buist married on 12 December 1835 at Tealing, Forfarshire, Scotland.^[2]

In the 1861 census, Barbara (age 44) was at home with her husband James and eight children at Archibald's Land, Liff Road, Lochee, Forfarshire. ^[3]

In the 1871 census, Barbara (age 56) was the wife of James Buist at 2 Archibald's Lane, Lochee, Forfarshire (Angus), Scotland.^[4]

In the 1881 census, Barbara (age 66) was the wife of James Buist at 62, Liff Street, Lochee, Forfarshire (Angus), Scotland.^[5][6]

Barbara died 25 October 1883 at Lochee, Forfarshire, Scotland. ^[7] She is mentioned on a memorial in Liff And Benvie Churchyards, Liff, Angus, Scotland with a death date of 25 October 1883.^[8] The inscription on the memorial stone reads:
