Biography
Charles McLaughlin was the father of Mary Elizabeth (McLaughlin) Fulton Bailey.
Mary reported in the 1880 Federal Census that both her parents were born in Ireland. Her death certificate lists her born at Boston to parents Charles Claflin and Mary. The birth records of her children used various phonetic representations of McLaughlin as well as Fulton. The Bailey Family Bible has McLaughlin.
No records have been found in America. If he is in the Census, the correct family has not been identified.
DNA has linked Charles McLaughlin to a McLaughlin family in Carndonagh, Donegal, Ireland. The exact connection remains elusive, but Charles probably had a brother James who stayed in Ireland, and possibly a John who ended up in Boston..
