Phillip was born in 1863. He was the son of Phillip McLaughlin (abt.1826-abt.1866) and Catherine Devine (1835-1873) ^[1]

Phillip married Rachael Elizabeth Smith (1871-abt.1945) in Victoria in 1889. ^[2] Children included:

Phillip died at the age of 39. ^[3]

Funeral Notice. McLAUGHLIN. - The friends of Mrs. Phillip McLaughlin are respectfully invited to follow the remains of her late beloved husband to their last resting place, the Bairnsdale cemetery. The funeral will move from Mr. McLaughlin's late residence, Sarsfiled, TO-MOR ROW (Wednesday), the 19th inst., at 12 o'clock noon. S. & W. PEARSON, Undertakers.^[4]
