Biography

Martha McLellan was born on 6 November 1774 in Gorham, Maine. Her parents were James McLellan and Abigail McLellan.

She married Samuel Edwards on 8 July 1792[1]. They had ten children, all born in Gorham[2]:

1. James M., born 27 Jun 1793; married 1st Dolly Hill, 2nd Eliza Rolfe
2. Hannah, born 14 Jul 1796; married Simon Elder Jr.
3. Martha, born 17 Feb 1798; married Clark Swett
4. Bryce, born 23 Mar 1800; married Martha Irish
5. Charles, born 9 Mar 1802; died 1804
6. Charles, born 9 May 1805; died 1815
7. Mary Ann, born 8 Dec 1807; married William B. Harding
8. Maria, born 8 Jun 1809; married Joseph Estes
9. Abigail, born 25 Aug 1811; married Paul C. Richmond
10. Theodore B., born 25 May 1815; married Martha R. Gammon

Martha passed away on 20 July 1842[3] in Gorham and is buried in South Street Cemetery.
