Biography

Sister Edith McLeod was working at Masterton Hospital when she joined the first New Zealand contingent of thirty nurses to travel to Europe during W.W.I. The first twelve N.Z. nurses to take part in World War I had gone as part of an earlier Australian group.

She survived the sinking of the SS Marquette in 1915.
