Much of my information came from Wm Burgess KEE of Westfiejd RR1 NB who compiled a history of Col William McLeod's family as his grandmother was Margaret McLeod daughter of Col McLeod. Also from Mr Kee came two articles by "Observer" published in the "Telegraph-Journal" in May 1935 titled

I am the great great grandson and last McLeod descendant of Hon. William McLeod 1789-1855. I have much information which is not shown. His date of birth was 27 Jan 1789 at Portsmouth England at age 15 he joined Royal Navy. In 1809 he was shipwrecked and held prisoner in Givet Prison France. He with companions Meek and Tatnal were able to escape and return to England. In 1811 he married Jemima Littlejohn at Wedley Hanpshire. UK. In 1815 after the battle of Waterloo he was crew on HMS Belerophon for the capyure of Napoleon. In 1824 he took a land grant in Kings County NB. He had 10 children was Colonel in NB Militia, appointed in NB legislature representing Kings County for 4 terms. Full details of his descendants are available.
