Jane came to Canada in 1850 and was a Presbyterian. William and Jane were married by her father, Rev. Donald McLeod.
The history of St. Andrew's Church in Cobourg records that when the The Female Association for Missionary Purposes in Connection with the Presbyterian Church was formed that "apparently no president was elected, but only a secretary, Miss Jane McLeod." It appears that the group was quite successful in raising funds: 35 pounds in 1848 and 96 pounds in 1849.
She is interred in Avondale Cemetery, Stratford, Ontario.
